What Happens During a Remortgage? 

 

Instruction from client & Initial Checks

Once you have found your new mortgage, instruct a conveyancer to handle the legal transaction

Client care information and identification documents

Your conveyancer will assess the title of your property and conduct legal checks

Your new lender will require you to carry out searches

Searches carried out and the conveyancer deals with any issues that arise

New Mortgage

A redemption statement will be requested from your old lender

A formal offer will be received from your new lender

The new terms of the mortgage will be discussed between yourself and your conveyancer

After discussion, you can proceed to sign the mortgage deed

Final Checks

This includes a bankruptcy check to ensure you have never been declared bankrupt
 

Completion 

 Your conveyancer will register your new mortgage with Land Registry, draw funds & pay off your previous mortgage
