Employ a Child Custody Solicitor
It can be a challenging and emotional time when a relationship comes to an end. Our dedicated and specialist family solicitor is understanding that children must come first, they will assist you through the process with the intention of reaching an agreement on child custody arrangements as quickly as possible.
Why is a Family Solicitor needed?
When parents separate important decisions will need to be made; for example, where a child will live and how much time they will spend with the non-resident parent. As members of ‘Resolution’, we promote a non-confrontational approach to family problems and encourage parents to work together to achieve the best possible outcome for their family.
Sadly, it is not always the case that an agreement can be reached, and we encourage parties to consider seeking help from a mediator to assist in resolving the dispute. Attending a meditation is often a requirement if an application to Court is needed, as an application to Court should be a last resort.
What is mediation?
Mediation is a way for bridging the gap between you and your ex-partner to reach an agreement before court. The purpose of a mediator is to find a solution that everyone can agree on. The mediator is an impartial third person who does not take sides.
The positives of visiting a mediator are:
- Voluntary, you cannot be forced to go
- Confidential
- Less formal than a solicitor
How can visiting a mediator help?
There are many benefits of mediation some examples of what you can expect to achieve are:
- Reduce stress
- Improve communication
- Allow the parties involved to put an end to their disagreement and move forward
- Everyone involved has control of the result
What to expect during mediation?
Individual meetings with your mediator are held first, followed by sessions with all parties and the mediator, in which you sit together and discuss your disagreements. If it is more convenient for you, your mediator can meet with you separately. The number of sessions required will vary depending on the circumstances.
